乙女らよ、時を惜しめ
Gather ye rose-buds while ye may:
Old time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles to-day,
To-morrow will be dying.
年若き日に、薔薇のつぼみを摘みなさい。
古いときは、今も過ぎ行く。
今日笑って咲いているその花も
明日には枯れてしまうだろう。

若さと血潮の熱いとき。
無駄にすごせば、しおれるばかり。
時は昔に帰らない。

For having lost but once your prime,
You may for eｖer tarry.
はにかんでないで、若い時を楽しみなさい。
そうして、早く結婚を。
花の盛りを過ぎたなら、
いつまでもただ待ち続けるだけ。
